I had greater success using my virtual/dual-boot madness than a lot of Windows users who had to download all of the applications to their desktop. I never had any issues with lagging unless the router was crowded with other users and in that case, I would just run a virtual desktop, which was oftentimes faster. would recommend at least 256GB though because dual-boot takes up like 80GB). For an entire semester, I ran dual-boot Windows for all of my program classes (Matlab, AutoCad, Excel VBA, SolidWorks, etc) on my basic Macbook Air 2017 (128GB. Mac is really great for running a dual boot. If you have read it all you deserve a huge thumb up! * Should I wait for a next generation of Apple chips for Macs? (not really excited about such idea)

* If the Pro (the fan) is the way to go - is 256GB enough (never cared about deleting stuff from my PC, currently keeping junk since I own a huge capacity HDD & SSD, so I don't actually know how much do I need)? Should I squeeze out some extra money and upgrade it as well? * I could get an ideal Air (8/8, 512GB, 16GB) for around a same price as a less ideal Pro (8/8, 256GB, 16GB). (LoL shouldn't even be a big factor in any consideration, just an example) * Don't care if the only issue would be dropping from 60fps in LoL to 55fps etc. * I care about the fan - do I need it? What do you think? Is it worth spending more only for it? * I don't care about touchbar, slightly brighter display, slightly better speakers etc. Which Macs are you considering (+obligatory specs) * MacOS product could be a nice addition to my iPhone & iPad (ecosystem?) * Display (looking at those in store is nice) * Silent (another thing I know to appreciate (used to have a slim gaming laptop)

Long answer - I only truly played one demanding game on my PC (Cities: Skylines, with all DLC's, dosen of mods and workshop assets, totaling over 50GBs of RAM :)).

Currently using JetBrains' CLion, and to my understanding they are working on bringing it to the M1.

Eventually I did install W10 alongside a fresh Ubuntu install (joined the Linux world) where now I spend most of my time on my dual-boot system.

I am life long pc user, used Windows for a long time, but when MS started forcing you to upgrade to Windows 10 from 7, I was not very happy. So, as I stated, I am an engineering student, precisely Electrical engineering on a programme specializing in system control, automation and robotics.

This post will be a bit longer, I would appreciate if you have time to read it and give your opinion. Hello everyone, I am new to the sub and I would like to ask you (kind of a long) question(s) after a lot of a research on M1.
